Healthy alternative to the store-bought jam, this raspberry chia jam is very simple and quick to make.
This is a basic and easy recipe for raspberry jam. Store bought jam can be loaded with sugar, preservatives and some other things that are not very good for. This Raspberry Chia Jam is much healthier and lower in sugar and has a very rich flavor. It is ready in under 15 minutes and can be used for all your jam needs: on waffles, pancakes, nut butter sandwiches, yogurt bowls...the possibilities are endless. Did I mention it also has the omega 3’s that you body needs? Also, kids love it and you can feel good they are eating the good stuff! All you need is some fresh or frozen raspberries, chia seeds, your preferred type of sweetener, I used here maple syrup, and vanilla seeds to create a luxurious flavor.
16 oz jar
Place the raspberries in a saucepan, if using frozen, thaw them at room temperature for about 1 hour. Add the maple syrup, bring to a boil and simmer for about 5 min.
Using a wooden spoon mash them so they break down a bit.
Add chia seeds, stir very well and let it simmer for another 8 min stirring occasionally.
Add the vanilla extract, if using, and remove the pot from heat. Cool slightly and pour in a jar.
